Surprise! The two teams everyone had pegged in the Super Bowl in August made the Super Bowl. In a nearly perfect match-up, the league’s #1 offense in the Broncos will line up against the #1 defense in the Seahawks, and of course you might have heard this Manning guy has his legacy at stake. Or something like that.
The early line was -1 Denver but quickly pushed out to -2.5, on account of Peyton Manning mostly. Russell Wilson’s shine has certainly faded over the last 5-6 weeks, and the over/under of 46 seems to suggest Vegas doesn’t see the young quarterback putting up more than 20+ points on the big stage. Seattle’s defense is so good that Wilson certainly doesn’t have to shoot the lights out for his squad to take the win, but he’ll certainly be a big part of whatever game plan Pete Carroll is putting together. His play might be a barometer for the game’s outcome.
–Though you wouldn’t know it from the media coverage we’re going to see all week. Manning will soak up every bit of the spotlight not already put squarely on Richard Sherman for his rant against Michael Crabtree, and just like that we’re looking at one of the best pre-Super Bowl media weeks we’ve ever seen.
Fox has the coverage for this one on Dish Network channels in two weeks. Joe Buck and Troy Aikman have the call and of course, as always, the game will kick-off around 6:15. Check back all week for updates as this line is expected to move…
