It’s getting warm and we’re all ready to take the outdoors. Whether you’re tailgating at the hottest concert or camping with the family, you can take the great entertainment and service of DISH Network with you with the Tailgater portable satellite system!
Once your receiver has been activated during the first startup, startups with the Tailgater in the future take less than fifteen minutes. No need to worry about pointing or adjusting, the Tailgater is fully automatic and will find a satellite signal on its own, all it needs is a clear view of the southern sky. The Tailgater is powered via coaxial cable from the DISH receiver, and the DISH receiver must be plugged into an AC outlet. You can use an AC/DC converter to plug the receiver into your vehicle’s DC power supply, typically a 12V outlet.

Imagine sitting outdoors at a barbeque or a tailgate party watching the big game on TV. Never hear your kids complain about being bored on a camping trip again. Bring the TV along!
Tailgater allows you to watch all of your favorite shows from anywhere. While limited to the 48 contiguous states, you’re not limited to where you want to take it. Bring it along to the tailgating party in the parking lot, a backyard barbeque, a quiet stream in the country, or a warm sandy beach.
The Tailgater has two components: a portable satellite antenna and the HD receiver. The antenna hooks up to the receiver that is powered by plugging into an AC outlet or with a converter into a DC power supply. It automatically finds the nearest satellite signal with no programming from you.
The equipment is weather-proof and comes with a security bracket to prevent theft. It works with both HD and SD programming. It’s lightweight, with the antenna weighing 10 pounds and the receiver weighing just 5 pounds.
You may wonder about the cost of owning one of these prize gadgets. One of the best benefits to you is that you don’t have to pay for it when you aren’t using it. If you are only going to use it during the summer months while you are camping, only pay for it during those months. You can deactivate it at any time and not be charged a penalty and then reactivate it by logging into your account and it will be ready for use when you need it.
Most people will not need to create a second account for their Tailgater. If you have Whole-Home HD DVR service, you will be required to get another account.
You can watch the same channels as you would if you were sitting in your living room. The main exception to this is the local channels. They will vary, depending on where you are. Some regional sports networks may also not be available.
Whether you want to use The Tailgater for family vacations or for watching at outdoor events, it is a convenient system to take everywhere with you. Never miss your favorite shows while on vacation and never sacrifice time in the great outdoors to catch the big game. With The Tailgater, you can have it all.
